What Mbongi Actually Means

Mbongi (also lubongo, mbungi) is the Bantu-Kongo name for the village assembly space — often a roofed pavilion at the centre of the community. It is more than an architectural feature. It is a method: a place where elders, youth, women, and men gather to discuss matters of consequence under shared light.
